Adidas Celebrates One Year in Nigeria

....Prepares To Launch Two New Stores

Over a year ago, adidas, the global sports brand, through a Strategic Retail Partnership with Mopheth Sport Nigeria Ltd, opened its first two stores in Nigeria. The exciting first year saw the two stores run a plethora of campaigns that not only presented the public with authentic adidas product but also offered great competitions such as a consumer opportunity to win tickets to watch a Chelsea game in the UK.
“We have had unprecedented response to our brand from the Nigerian consumer. For this reason, together with our partner Mopheth Sport Ltd, we are looking at an aggressive expansion plan in the next year that will include new stores as far north as Kano” says Astrud Meintjes, the Senior Business Development Manager at adidas South Africa.

There are currently two adidas stores in Nigeria, one at the Ikeja City Mall and the other at the Abuja Grand Towers (Shoprite) Mall in Abuja. In December two additional stores will be opened in Lekki Phase 1 and in Kano’s Ado Bayero Mall.

“Our celebration not only marks a great year of the adidas brand in Nigeria but the expansion of our footprint through two new stores in Kano and Lekki,” says Mr Adekunle Oyegade, adidas’s retail partner. “Like the existing stores, our new stores will offer the latest in adidas products including footwear, apparel and accessories for men, women and kids in all sports categories, including: football, running, basketball, training and Originals” he continued. The official proceedings will take place at the Ikeja City Mall, where adidas will offer special guests along with consumers, an exciting day of festivities and promotions on most adidas product.
