Etisalat Sponsors African Patrons Cup Polo Tournament

Guinness explains 18 per cent slide in profit

GUINNESS Nigeria Plc has attributed the 18 per cent drop in profit after tax for the financial year ended June 2012 to distribution cost incurred from its N52 bilion capacity expansion investment, as well as the interest charges incurred inform of overdraft from support received from the investment.

The Managing Director of the company, Seni Adetu, while addressing journalists yesterday at a press briefing to announce the forth coming yearly general meeting of the company, explained that the cost incurred during the year from the capacity expansion programme which is expected to reposition the company from low capacity to almost very adequate capacity in the long run with the interest charges from the support the company received from the investment were reasons behind the decline in profit after tax.

BA’s First Airbus A380 ‘Super-jumbo’ Aircraft Reaches Milestone

The building of British Airways’ first Airbus A380 ‘Super-jumbo’ aircraft reached a major milestone this week, with the installation of the four giant Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines.

The engines, which each produce 70,000 lbs of thrust (or approximately 30,000 horsepower, the equivalent of 300 family cars), were attached to aircraft ‘MSN095’, the first of 12 A380s the airline has on order.

The aircraft is due to be delivered to British Airways in July next year.

Visafone Nigeria becomes 1st CDMA operator to launch BlackBerry Services.

Visafone Nigeria will on Friday 26th October, launch BlackBerry Internet Service for the first CDMA BlackBerry service in Nigeria (in the whole Europe, Middle East and Africa region actually). MTN Nigeria offers software for microbanks as cloud service

MTN Nigeria has introduced new banking software, called MTN XaaS, for up-and-coming banks in the West African nation. The new service platform is part of efforts to improve the operations of microfinance banking in that country. According to MTN, the new software platform could save microfinance banks up to 70 percent of the traditional costs involved in procuring, hosting and implementing typical banking software.

Etisalat Introduces Prize for Innovation at Africa Com 2012 Awards

Etisalat Nigeria offers free data with Samsung Galaxy S III

Etisalat Nigeria has introduced the new Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone. Globacom launches Glo Flexi

Globacom has re-launched its dynamic tariff plan, Glo Flexi to give subscribers on the Glo network a discount of up to 40 percent on calls made to other networks in addition to the existing discount of up to 99 percent on Glo-to-Glo calls.

The benefit is the key feature in the Glo Flexi Reloaded tariff plan which was re-launched on Wednesday in Lagos. In August last year, Glo had launched the first dynamic tariff plan in Nigeria offering up to 99 percent discount on calls within the Glo network.

Speaking at the re-launch of the tariff plan in Lagos, Globacom’s Head of Marketing, Adeniyi Olukoya, said the new Glo Flexi Reloaded plan is an amazing package that offers the biggest discounts to Glo subscribers as they can talk for as low as 1k/sec on the network.

MTN introduces new product

MTN Nigeria has introduced a dynamic tariff plan tagged: ‘MTN Zone’ to offer more value to customers. 

 The service is aimed at enabling subscribers enjoy as much as 100 per cent discount on their calls, depending on their locations.  Also, the development will help customers to make significant savings on their calls. 

The Chief Marketing Officer, MTN Nigeria, Mr. Larry Annetts, in a statement, said: “MTN Zone is a service which offers attractive discounts to customers depending on the prevailing discount rates available on the cell site from which the customer receives signal.” 

Annetts  said customers would be advised of discounts available in the area they are through a service called cell broadcast, adding that available discounts wiuld be displayed on the screens of their phones.
