In his goodwill message at the conference, the Managing Director of Procter & Gamble in West Africa, Mr. Manoj Kumar, represented by Mrs. Tope Iluyemi, the Global Government Relations Leader for Sub- Saharan Africa lauded the initiative of the Federal Ministry of Health to launch the Oral Health Care policy. He also congratulated the Senate President Dr David Mark on his inauguration as the National Oral Health care champion, stating further that “P&G brands touch and improve the lives of 4.6 billion consumers in the world daily and the partnership of Oral B and the Federal Ministry of Health on the Oral Care policy launch was a reflection of P&G’s commitment to the touch and improve the oral health of Nigerians.”
In its own remark on the the Oral Health Care policy, the Senate President, David Mark, said that the policy will certainly make oral healthcare accessible and affordable for Nigerians. Also speaking at the event, the Honourable Minister for Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, stated that “the goal of the Oral health policy was to achieve optimal health for Nigerians through sustainable awareness creation, strategic research and coordination of oral health activities.”
Oral B partnered with the Federal Ministry of Health on the launch of the policy to reiterate its purpose of touching and improving consumer lives, as well as the Oral Health of Nigerian consumers. Following the launch of Oral B toothpaste in Nigeria just last year, Oral B has demonstrated her passion for improving the Health of Nigerians through many initiatives. These initiatives include; the introduction of her mobile dental clinic which has provided free dental checks to over 200,000 Nigerians since inception, her partnering with the Nigerian Dental Association and the Federal Ministry of Health in several other ways to help improve the Oral health of Nigerians.
Dr. Mrs Adebimpe Adebiyi, the Chief Dental officer of the federation, while commending the support of Oral B as a partner with the Federal Ministry of Health on the launch of the policy stating “that Oral B is one of the flouride containing toothpastes endorsed by the Nigerian Dental Association”
